About this game

As commander of a squadron of cavalry, what will you sacrifice to win the war of gunpowder and magic? Return to the battlefield as a gentleman-officer of the Royal Tierran Army in this long-awaited sequel to "Sabres of Infinity."

"Guns of Infinity" is a 440,000 word interactive novel by Paul Wang, author of "Sabres of Infinity," "Mecha Ace," and "The Hero of Kendrickstone." Your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Will you befriend, betray, or romance the nobles, rogues, and spies of this epic world? Will you keep your men alive, or sacrifice them to your own greed in a bid for power and riches? Will you fight for power, riches, love, or glory?

• Play the role of a gallant hero, or a self-serving scoundrel.
• Use cunning, force, or sheer bravado to fight the Antari forces.
• Train and drill your men for success on the battlefield.
• Support your family financially, or leave them to fight off penury alone.

Combat, intrigue, and romance await in "Guns of Infinity!"

This game is perhaps the perfect sequel. It not only kept the core mechanics which formed its predecessors, but also expanded upon previous concepts in only the best of ways. Not only is this game longer, but there are even more decisions you can make, and with them - far more repercussions. You can get some genuinely dreadful endings if you're not careful which is just amazing. I absolutely loved the new characters introduced and also seeing old (not-so-friendly) faces. This is really great.

Following in the same vein as the first installment, I cant help but feel like Guns is missing something. The stakes really dont seem as high in some parts (especially the final sequences). It's as if about halfway through the challenges become progressively easier. Also, certain relationships seem to be dead ends - little throwaway options placed there to create the illusion of choice. Overall, I found Guns to be satisfying in parts but it does not quite live up to Sabers for me.

This game and series is a breath of fresh air compared to many other text adventures I've played: with a good stat setup, a living and beathing world with incredible detail, and a creative magic system with only a few problems. Namely, imported characters (despite ideal performances) being inferior to pre-made ones. A thing likely to get worse as the series goes on for those continuing their Sabre characters beyond here but in the face of enaging gameplay and enthralling battles they are dwarfed
