◆ Prologue
A century has passed since the events of DRAGON QUEST, during which time three new nations have been founded by the offspring of the great hero of Alefgard.
But the peace they have long enjoyed is no more. Demon hosts summoned forth from the darkness by the fallen High Priest Hargon have brought the land to the brink of ruin once again.
Now, the young prince of Midenhall—a descendant of the legendary warrior Erdrick—must set out to find the two other heirs to the heroic bloodline so that together they might defeat the nefarious Hargon and restore peace to their world.

・Whether you’re keen to pick up where the first part of the Erdrick Trilogy left off, or are entirely new to the series, DRAGON QUEST II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line is sure to take you on an unforgettable journey.

・In this early example of an open-world adventure, players are free to wander the wilds, brave monster-infested dungeons, or take to the seas in search of new lands—discovering ever more powerful abilities and valuable treasures along the way!

Although a lot easier than the old NES game, this game has much to offer. It's interface is easy to pick up, and the story is great. The updated version, has more dialogue than the original. With very little difference as far as maps and item placement. The updated graphics are subpar; but it's a Dragon Quest game...(if you want graphics go to Final Fantasy). Overall, a great value for an awesome game.

BEAUTIFUL, but I sometimes miss the NES version, music, mechanics, and all. PLEASE SELL DQ (DW) 1 & 2 EXACTLY as they were on the NES, but with touch interface & a myriad of controller options for droid phone & tablet users who have one controller or another. I can get it elsewhere, but I'd rather get it from Square Enix, out of respect and appreciation for them and all that they do and create.

Great port, same engine as DQ1. As a port, it's mostly well done. I don't like the revised spell names (they seem Pokemon-inspired). I appreciate the efforts to reduce the tedium from the original, but there are a couple parts where the sparkling item reveals feel like cheating / sequence-breaking. As a game, I found it fun if a little scattered. Not as challenging as I was expecting. Occasional glitch where the "back" button in menus spawns too low on my screen, needing a reset.
