    Into this world emerged a warrior known only as Raven. A warrior who would save the people from him by bending the wasteland to his will. A warrior who would one day become a legend.

The Sun: Origin - MOD by KDMT

The Sun: Origin is a post apocalyptic combination of a first person shooter and role playing game. You control your character from a first person perspective, generally using firearms to kill the mutated horrors, bandits, and freaks you run into while completing quests. Successfully completing quests and killing foes award you with experience you can use to raise your stats, including your accuracy, weaponry knowledge, stamina, charisma, and speed.

The game was created by a Russian dev, and the translations are more than a bit rough to the native English ear, especially when spoken - the inflections are often misplaced, and I would not be surprised if it was a machine translation then read out loud by an AI.

In many ways this appears to basically be a mobile version of the popular game Fallout 3, but simplified and designed with a mobile style interface. Like Fallout, I found the game to be too slow for me at the start, though in the former’s case I have been assured it gets a lot better once you get through the opening scenes. I found this game to be incredibly annoying in that you will find yourself blundering into highly irradiated areas over and over with little to no warning. Also, I found the aiming controls to be very painful to use. This game may support gamepads or other alternative controls but I don’t have one set up for my tablet to test it out.

KDMT’s mod provides you with two major features - first, you start the game with a ton of currency (called signs) which makes it easy to afford any supplies you might need throughout the game. Second, it prevents you from dying. I quickly found myself at 0 health when fighting some ghouls in an irradiated area, but other than the edges of the screen becoming bloody to let me know I was near death and my character slowing from being hurt, there was no significant effect. Using this mod, it should be quite easy to explore all the content in this game.

While I am a fan of the theme and the genre - I loved the Borderlands series, for instance, the poor translations and controls really kill this game for me. If I was able to use a gamepad to control the game it’d probably be much better, and of course, if you are a native Russian speaker, I am sure the story and voice overs will be much better quality than the English versions. I’d say this game is probably worth checking out if you are a fan of the post apocalyptic future theme, or shooters with RPG elements.
