Review: Idol Stage - Unlimited Diamond MOD by Sbenny

Idol Stage is an idle/clicker game where you find yourself in charge of an entertainment company seeking to have the greatest idols in the world. You start out with just enough cash to hire a minor talent and small company building, and by tapping, building, and upgrading, eventually you will have a stable of the best idols in the world performing to gigantic crowds of screaming fans.

Like most clicker games, you start with your main source of income being tapping on a certain spot to get small amounts of cash. This cash is used to hire talent, upgrade their skills, and build and/or upgrade facilities. The talent you hire can put on performances for larger amounts of cash, which also increases their popularity, but takes real time to complete. Putting on bigger shows requires better and more popular idols, so like most clicker games, you will find yourself performing the standard cycle of 1) building up income, 2) upgrading facilities to increase active and passive incomes, 3) upgrading talent to generate larger income from shows, and 4) collecting the income from shows and reassigning talent as needed.

Sbenny’s mod lets you take a huge shortcut by easily letting you acquire a ton of diamonds, the game’s premium currency. The diamonds can be used to speed up actions that take real time to complete, like upgrading facilities or performing shows, they can be used to acquire premium talent earlier, they can be converted into the game’s regular currency for a quick cash injection, and they can unlock additional slots for shows so more idols can perform together, increasing the rewards and sharing the gains.

This game throws a lot of things at you all at once, and the short tutorial doesn’t do a great job of acquainting you with all the stats involved for the idols and their skills, but like most clicker games, you can’t really go wrong with any choices you make, as long as you keep upgrading things as needed you should continue to progress without difficulty.

Sbenny’s mod does a great job of shortcutting the game so you can access the later content without investing nearly as much time as it would take to earn it without a real money purchase. Not only does it provide a quick infusion of more diamonds that you should really need, but it’s even repeatable! If you do somehow manage to spend your way back to zero, you can get another huge diamond injection and continue on your way.

On the whole I’ve never really understood the appeal of idle and clicker games, but I recognize the genre is fairly common, especially in the mobile market, and this game does provide the visual stimulation I think a good clicker game requires, where it feels like you are making progress even as the game is built to throw walls around you every chance it gets.
