Review: Lost Smile and Strange Circus - LP MOD by Rosina

Lost Smile and Strange Circus is an odd game, half idle/clicker game, and half visual novel.

It follows the main character, a girl named Noah, who finds herself in another world, where a strange collection of circus performers do their act to attract “audiences” which appear like little black beans. You collect these audiences to unlock additional scenes, upgrade the performers stats and stages, and generally progress through the story. You can use the In App Purchase feature to use real money to buy boosters which will allow you to progress through the story much quicker than through manual play. There is also a feature where you grow a plant by feeding it slowly.

Unlike most idle games this game requires a lot more interaction to keep moving. Your performers will generate audiences pretty fast but as is normal for these types of games, the upgrade costs skyrocket exponentially, making every upgrade cost far more than the last. As usual, the best strategy is to prioritize unlocking new generators over upgrading existing ones.

Occasionally the performers will show up on stage to interact with Noah, where some of the story is revealed. These story scenes are saved and are replayable via the memory feature.

Using Lucky Patcher , Rosina was able to release this version where you can take advantage of Lucky Patcher ’s free In App Purchase feature to purchase all the boosters you could want to quickly access the later content.

The game is in English but it is clear that English is not the author’s primary language. This really made it tough for me to have interest in continuing the storyline, but the artwork is interesting and tells a story all of its own. I wouldn’t say I enjoyed this game, but I did find it interesting and it’s at least worth checking out if you have some spare time. One odd thing about it is how quickly you generate a passive income stream that, at least in the beginning, far, far outpaces your ability to spend it for upgrades. By the time you finish the tutorial, you will have little need to manually click the lamp to generate income, and if you did the effect would be minimal compared to even the earliest passive generation. A manual click will give you 1-2 audiences, whereas the first performer quickly generates 100 audiences a second.

Please note that with all Lucky Patcher mods, that it will not work unless you have your own copy of Lucky Patcher installed and configured to intercept In App Purchases, and that you may need to repatch the APK before using it to get the free purchases. If you install the game and the mod isn’t working, uninstall the game, then reinstall and use Lucky Patcher to re-patch and launch the game.
